Pensions & payments
What the State Pension rates are for 2026/27, when payments arrive and what happens around bank holidays, and how the pension is treated if you move abroad.
The 2026 annual increase is in force. The new full rates are higher, but the amount actually paid depends on which State Pension a person receives.
The State Pension is paid every four weeks, in arrears, on a weekday set by the last two digits of the National Insurance number. When that day is a bank holiday, the payment can come earlier.
A UK State Pension can be paid almost anywhere, but it only rises each year in the EEA, Gibraltar, Switzerland and certain agreement countries. Elsewhere, including Canada, New Zealand and Australia, it stays frozen.
